Now THAT’s a Good Question!

Why India?

Most all readers of this blog know that I, along with 3 other guys from FBC El Dorado, plan to embark on a 10 day trip to South India this Saturday, January 11th. One of the primary purposes of the trip – as it relates to FBC – is to identify a UUPG (Unreached Unengaged People Group) or something similar and embrace them as a church. My hope is for our church to begin to pray for these peoples and learn about these peoples and ask God to give us a heart for these peoples and to build towards doing whatever it takes to help them hear, know, understand, and respond to the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus.

A question I have been asked a lot recently is “Why India?” It’s a great question. With people needing Jesus all over the world (including right here in El Dorado), why try to start a work on the other side of the world?

There are many reasons, actually. But let me give you the main one. In fact, I want two maps to demonstrate for you why the Lord won’t let me/us ignore India. The map below represents the status of global evangelical Christianity. The green marks represent Christians. The red marks represents total lostness. Where are the are the most red marks?

Yep. India. The heaviest concentration of lostness in the world is India. Or, to put it another way – India is the darkest land on earth.

Another map (shown below) indicates the heaviest concentration of those with ZERO access to the Gospel (UUPG’s). The red marks indicate those areas. Again, where in the world is the heaviest concentration of UUPG’s?

Yep. India. This part of South Asia is the darkest place on earth. Are their lost areas all over the planet? Yes! No one is discounting that fact and reality. But I believe the light shines the brightest in areas that are the darkest. India desperately needs the light of the Gospel. I cannot wait for FBC El Dorado to join God in what He is doing in that part of the world.

Why India? Good question. But a better question is, “Why NOT India?”

We are praying for you, Matt. I pray you can make a dent in the hard task ahead especially in fighting against other beliefs. I know little of other religions but am dismayed that Hindus have a host of various Gods which is just so very wrong to me. I’m praying for your group’s health. In Christ’s Love, Ilene
