Wisdom for Your Wednesday

yes, if you call out for insight
    and raise your voice for understanding,
if you seek it like silver
    and search for it as for hidden treasures,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
    and find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom;
    from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;

Proverbs 2:3-6

Which is more important – wisdom or money?

Okay then, “Mr-Spiritual-Smarty-Pants-Who-Wears-Holy-Underwear” . . .

There is $105 Million in a brown briefcase located somewhere between FBC El Dorado and the new Murphy USA gas station along North West Avenue.

GO!

Seriously. If you knew there was a brief case with that much money in it – for the taking – along that route, what would you do?

I know what I would do? SEARCH FOR IT!!!!!

I would get off my you know what and go find it!

Yet I, like you, would argue that having wisdom is more important than having money.

According to this Proverb, getting wisdom is similar to getting a big time brief case full of money. It has to be sought. It has to be gone after. It has to be – in a sense – worked for.

YES – it is God who gives it.

YES – we are to pray for God to grant it.

But that doesn’t mean we don’t search for it. It doesn’t automatically ‘appear’ by mere osmosis (trust me, I’ve tried). If we really believe wisdom is more valuable than millions, then it will be evident in how we ransack the Word to get it. From God’s mouth is where it’s found.

Which is more important – wisdom or money?

It’s in the Word.

GO!

  1. Rodney Wimberly says:

    Matt, you would never make it to the briefcase even if you were the only one who knew exactly where it was. Why? Because you would keep running into people that you needed to stop and tell about Jesus along the way and while you were doing that, someone else would find it.

    • Sudie Garner says:

      Yes, Yes, oh, Matt, you would NOT get it. Wimberly is absolutely so on target!
      Praises to our Lord for sending you to us. Keep on SHARING JESUS!!

      • Libby says:

        I am in total agreement with Rodney and Ms. Sudie! I am so thankful for God bringing you and your family to El Dorado!

        And by the way…wisdom is far more important.
        And being wise can sometimes lead to money.

      • Thank you, Sudie! Yes, let’s share HIM until He returns.

    • If that were the case, Rodney, then I would gladly let someone else have it. Well, maybe not “gladly,” – but it would be worth it!

      • Thank you, Libby. Oh how grateful we are to God for bringing us here.
        And, yes, you are spot on: being wise does – at times, and in some situations – lead to “wise treasures.”
